WHAT TO EXPECT
Senior pictures are important. You’re marking a milestone in your life- the end of a chapter, and the beginning of a new one. I still get my own senior pictures out every so often, and I’m always blown away by the memories and the feelings they give me. Life is truly amazing!
Because your senior pictures are so important, I want you to have an incredible experience! First, we’ll talk about location- where’s the perfect spot for your photo session to take place? Sessions are 2 hours long, so it’s possible to choose multiple locations as long as they’re not too far from each other, and you don’t have multiple outfit changes. I’m happy to help you decide on a location that will be amazing. If you’re an outdoor adventurer, like me, there are so many amazing places in Michigan that provide the perfect backdrop. If you’re more into city life, there are also plenty of awesome urban locations to take advantage of. If you have a special theme you’d like to incorporate in your photos (maybe you have a horse, you’re a hunter, or you ride a motorcycle) then we’ll figure out a way to make it happen!
After we pick the date and location for your session, I’ll be emailing you a session contract. This goes over all the details, terms and conditions, and I’ll need it signed by a parent to reserve your session. Then, about a week before the session I’ll touch base to make sure everything’s on track and we’re set to go!
During your session, I’ll direct you to create natural, creative, and amazing photos. I look for great light, then a great background, and then I’ll add you to the image. You can expect a mixture of more candid photos and more posed photos (looking at the camera).
After your session, it takes up to 14 business days for your photos to be ready. You’ll receive around 50-60 images, in a mix of color and black & white. I’ll deliver them in an online gallery, where you can view and share them, purchase prints and digital downloads, and order other products like calendars and books.
WHAT TO WEAR
I recommend either bringing 2-3 outfits, or one outfit that you can change up by adding/removing layers and accessories. Stick to solid colors or smaller prints. Stay away from logos or graphics, unless you really want one of your outfits to incorporate that (like a band tee). A suggestion is to bring one dress and one casual outfit. If you want to borrow a dress from me, I have a collection of them, so just let me know!
I also highly recommend having your hair and/or makeup professionally styled before the session. This will have a huge impact on your photos! Most salons offer this service, or I’d be happy to refer you to a freelance artist.
I recommend either bringing 2 outfits- one casual and one formal- or, pick one and go with it. If you’re only bringing one outfit, stick to solid colors that are more neutral- black, white, gray, navy, olive, or brown. You can add layers like a jacket for variety, and accessories like sunglasses, a hat, etc.
Don’t shave within a few hours of the session, so you don’t have red splotches anywhere.
Try to avoid sunburns and tan lines! I don’t retouch tan lines or sunburns- that’s a additional service and it costs a lot, so it’s better to avoid it in the first place. As far as blemishes, I do retouch those, so don’t worry about stuff like that. :)
