Nature Wedding in Northern Michigan

Picture this: a quiet forest of tall pine trees set next to a calm lake in summer. The air is warm and inviting. Birds are singing. Then insert a gathering of happy friends and family who are here to celebrate the wedding of their loved ones. That was exactly what the setting was like at this intimate wedding in Northern Michigan.
The day started out with Kaitlyn and Kenneth getting ready in their separate cabins at Sojourn Lakeside Resort. This venue is awesome because of it’s private, remote location in the woods. It’s also right on a gorgeous, quiet lake, which provided a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. I also love that the resort has plenty of cabins and room available, so you can get ready, have your wedding, and then stay as long as you’d like.
After the ceremony, we found a canoe sitting at the dock, and they decided to take it out on the lake for a private moment together. The reception was intimate and featured lots of rustic details. The day ended with a beautiful sunset, and fun and games outside on the large, open patio.
My favorite things about this wedding were the people- everyone was so laid back and happy. No drama or stress in sight. Also, I loved the majestic tall pine trees and how the venue just kind of fits in with nature.
Lume Photography is a fine art elopement and wedding photographer based in Michigan, travelling worldwide. Behind the camera you’ll find me (Andrea)- a girl who loves animals, the wilderness, and love stories. I believe in magic, soulmates, and the hidden forces of energy that connect everything and everyone in the universe. My favorite places are the woods, the mountains, and the ocean. My passion is documenting the moments, emotions and connection between two souls in love, in wild places. I travel to Arizona, Colorado, California, Scotland, and beyond to photograph wild elopements and small destination weddings.
