Picture this: You and your partner, exploring the breathtaking landscapes of the Keweenaw Peninsula—just the two of you, immersed in nature, creating memories that go far beyond the ordinary. My couples sessions and engagement sessions are crafted to be a personal experience, designed to reflect your unique connection. Whether you’re strolling through a quiet forest, standing on the edge of Lake Superior, or chasing the last rays of sunset, this is your moment to disconnect from the world and celebrate what matters most—each other.

Most of my sessions take place in the Keweenaw, within an hour of Houghton, MI, but I’m always up for adventure. If you’re dreaming of a destination session, I’ve traveled with couples to places like Puerto Rico, Colorado, and beyond. Wherever your story takes you, I’ll be there, camera in hand, ready to document it in a way that feels true and authentic to you.

Hey, I’m Andrea

a photographer and elopement planner with over a decade of experience creating intimate, emotive imagery for couples just like you. Besides doing my thing here at Lume Photography, I’m an herbalist, forager, crafter, and explorer. I love puns and awful dad jokes.

I’ve made my home in Michigan’s wild and wonderful Keweenaw Peninsula, where I’ve perfected the art of blending adventure with heartfelt, natural moments. Whether I’m guiding you through a couples session or planning your dream elopement, my goal is always the same: to give you an unforgettable experience and images that transport you back to that feeling every time you look at them.

  • Beautiful, creative, storytelling photos by an award-winning photographer (me!). You’ll have amazing & creative storytelling photos to keep forever.
  • Back-up day in case of bad weather. Yep, you’ve read it right! I reserve extra days for you to make sure we can change our plans if the weather decides to be difficult.
  • Session guide & expert planning assistance. Remove the stress and uncertainty of figuring things out on your own – I’ll help you every step of the way!
  • Carefully curated locations. No overcrowded tourist traps (unless you insist, vigorously!). I’ll share my favorite secret spots. :)
  • Private online gallery + print shop. Your photos are delivered in a gorgeous online gallery with the possibility to prints and other bespoke photo products right to your doorstep. Easy & convenient.

The difference between Couples Sessions and Elopements

While my couples sessions are focused on capturing your connection in a natural, relaxed setting, an elopement involves a much more curated experience. Elopements require detailed planning, officiants, timelines, and personal touches that go beyond a photo session. I specialize in both—and if you’re dreaming of a more intimate wedding experience, let me help you plan and document your elopement in a way that’s meaningful to you.

That’s where I come in. I specialize in making couples feel comfortable, with gentle prompts that feel natural and easy. You’ll quickly forget about the camera and focus on each other and what truly matters. It’s all about the experience and you’ll feel more like we’re just exploring, hanging out and having a great time than being “on camera”. ;)

Most of the time, my sessions are rain or shine! There’s something magical about rain—it brings a spiritual meaning of renewal and creates a beautiful, moody atmosphere. Light rain can add a special kind of magic to your photos. If the rain is only expected for part of the day, we can adjust the session time to work around it. And don’t worry—I always come prepared with clear umbrellas and ponchos just in case!

If the forecast calls for heavy rain or a torrential downpour, I’ll have backup dates available (usually the day before or after) to ensure we still have an incredible experience.

I totally get it—dogs are family! But the focus of my couples sessions is really on the two of you and your connection, and having your pup with us the whole time can make that tricky. It often turns the session into more of a family shoot because, let’s face it, dogs are like kids! That said, if you’d like your dog in a few photos, I’m totally down (I love dogs!). If they can hang out in the car or if someone can take them after those shots, then we can still keep the session centered on the two of you for the rest of the time.

Absolutely. I recommend bringing no more than two main outfits. Feel free to bring as many options as you want and I’ll help narrow it down. Layers are also a great way to change up looks without having to do a full change.
