Canyon Falls Elopement: Upper Peninsula
“When someone feels like magic, hold on to them tightly.” -B.E. Van de Veire
Canyon Falls holds a special place in my heart as an elopement spot for several reasons. First and foremost, its natural beauty is unparalleled, with the wide winding river, towering pines, and the enormous waterfall creating picturesque backdrops. The serene atmosphere and soothing sound of rushing water provide an intimate and romantic setting for couples to declare their love. The surrounding trails offer endless opportunities for exploring and capturing stunning photographs, making it a dream place to elope in Michigan.
Sarah and David’s elopement day started in a cozy cabin by Otter Lake. It was chilly and misty, creating a mystical vibe. After getting ready separately inside the cabin, I arranged for the couple’s first look, capturing David’s emotional reaction.
We explored nearby spots and found some hidden gems. Nature surprised us with a symbolic frog, sparking nostalgic conversations about fairy tales and princes.
At Canyon Falls, they chose to exchange vows at a merging river spot, another symbolic element of their elopement. The symbolism of the merging river branches represented the coming together of two lives in unity. As we wrapped up our exploration, the sky opened up in a downpour. Instead of dampening spirits, it felt like a cleansing ritual, washing away stagnant energy and making room for new beginnings.

Sarah and David’s elopement at Canyon Falls was a testament to the magic that unfolds when love meets nature. Rain or shine, they owned it. As their story lingers in the misty air of the Upper Peninsula, it’s a reminder that love, much like nature, doesn’t follow a script.
