A Fog-Filled Elopement with Spooky Vibes
But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we—
Of many far wiser than we—
And neither the angels in Heaven above
Nor the demons down under the sea
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;

Friday the 13th. Thick fog. Dew-covered spiderwebs glistening like tiny galaxies. If the universe could craft the perfect morning for a couple who lives for Halloween vibes, this was it.
Scott & Anja’s elopement wasn’t just about saying vows—I had the honor of officiating their ceremony, making it even more special—it was about stepping into a world that felt entirely their own. They didn’t want to wait all day to get married, so as the mist rolled in that morning, they exchanged rings and promises at Fish Cove, a hidden gem I’d scouted just weeks before. With their two dogs by their side, a handful of their closest people, and a backdrop that looked straight out of a gothic fairytale, the morning felt almost otherworldly.
Anja wore a black floral dress with matching combat boots (because obviously, the perfect choice). Scott opted for a more laid-back look, and together, they embraced every eerie, magical, and wildly romantic moment. And then? The fun really began. Sheet ghost photos? You bet. It was weird, it was playful, it was them.
To top it off, I surprised them with coffee and apple cider donuts from Keweenaw Coffee Works, because what’s a perfect fall morning without warm drinks and sugary goodness? We spent the rest of our time exploring the cove, taking in the quiet, the crisp air, and the kind of love that feels easy, deep, and real.
Anja & Scott, you two absolutely nailed the balance of spooky and sentimental, and I wouldn’t have wanted to document this day any other way. For anyone wondering what a morning elopement looks like, here’s how their timeline unfolded:
