Sugarloaf Mountain Elopement With Dogs And Family
“There are darknesses in life, and there are lights; you are one of the lights.”
~Bram Stoker
Brittany and Steven’s elopement blended family, pets, and Michigan’s natural beauty into one unforgettable day.
These high school sweethearts love the outdoors. They picked Sugarloaf for their vows because it’s close to where they got engaged at Pictured Rocks. Their day started at Whitefish Lodge, a cozy private lodge tucked into the woods. Family filled the space, including parents, siblings, grandparents, and their two Australian Shepherds, Eevee and Luna. Ruxin, Brittany’s parents’ golden retriever, joined the fun too.
Brittany wore The Octavia dress from The Wedding Shoppe in Clawson, MI. Brittany Greene styled her hair and makeup beautifully. Meanwhile, Steven looked sharp in his all-black suit. Together, they hiked the trail to Sugarloaf, ready for the moment they’d waited for.
At the summit, Lake Superior spread out in endless blue. Steven’s sister led a heartfelt ceremony. Brittany and Steven shared vows surrounded by people and pups who love them most.
Throughout the day, there was laughter, happy tears, and plenty of dog energy. (Luna – the gray merle- was not into me being there at all in the beginning. But she eventually decided I was a friend. I love dogs, lol!) After the ceremony, everyone returned to Whitefish Lodge for a laid-back dinner from MQT Nutrition Catering. They enjoyed sweet treats from Huron Mountain Bakery and planned games and a bonfire for later.
Calumet Floral created gorgeous florals that matched the natural setting. Everything felt genuine and true to Brittany and Steven. Their day proved that a simple celebration can still feel incredibly special.
I’m Andrea.
Photographer, storyteller, wanderer of woods and old paths. I believe in the kind of love that’s quiet and powerful. The kind that shows up in small gestures, knowing glances, shared silence. I photograph real moments because those are the ones that matter most- the ones that hold the soul of the story.
