A Cozy Door County Winter Wedding

As a wedding and elopement photographer, I’ve seen my fair share of amazing weddings. But there was something special about Sarah and Alex’s Door County winter wedding that still gives me goosebumps. The couple invited only their closest friends and relatives to witness their love story unfold in one of the most beautiful places in Wisconsin.

Capturing Memories

After the couple finished getting ready, it was time for their First Look. It wasn’t anything elaborate or staged, but it was a beautiful moment of peak emotions. Afterward, we headed to Cave Point State Park for photos. The snow-covered trees and icy lakeshore made for a breathtaking backdrop as we explored. As they exchanged their personal vows on a bluff overlooking the water, I couldn’t help but feel emotional. It was such a raw moment that reminded me why I do what I do.

The Cozy Ceremony

Sarah and Alex rented an Airbnb overlooking Green Bay where they stayed and had their ceremony in front of the big fireplace. It was cozy, intimate, and romantic all at once. Family and friends watched with emotion as they were married in a beautiful ceremony by Sarah’s brother-in-law. Guests were invited to come up and add a jar of soil to their ceremonial tree planting- I loved that! And right at the end of the ceremony, Alex and Sarah stepped outside where Alex opened a bottle of champagne with a SABER. You read that right!

Celebrating Love

The couple rented a trolley to take them and their guests to dinner. The trolley ride from Cave Point State Park to The Wickman House was filled with laughter and joy as everyone celebrated the newlyweds. The restaurant itself is one of the best in Door County – perfect for a cozy winter wedding reception. Everything from the food to the decor added to the warm ambiance of Sarah and Alex’s special day.

Looking back on Sarah and Alex’s Door County winter wedding brings back so many fond memories. It was an honor to be part of their love story! I am so honored to have been able to do engagement photos with them here on the Keweenaw and then document their wedding day. Their intimate celebration is proof that sometimes less is more when it comes to weddings – all you need is love, good company, and a beautiful setting like Door County.
