Winter Airbnb Wedding: Door County, Wisconsin
“Find my hand in the darkness and if we cannot find the light, we will always make our own” -Tyler Knott Gregson
Sarah and Alex invited their closest friends and relatives to witness their love story unfold in one of the most beautiful places in Wisconsin.
After the couple finished getting ready separately at the Airbnb, it was time for their First Look. It wasn’t anything elaborate or staged, but it was a beautiful moment. Afterward, we headed to Cave Point State Park for photos. The snow-covered trees and icy lakeshore made for a breathtaking backdrop as we explored. As they exchanged their personal vows on a bluff overlooking the water, I couldn’t help but feel emotional. It was such a raw moment that reminded me why I do what I do.
The Cozy Ceremony with a tree planting
Sarah and Alex rented an Airbnb overlooking Green Bay where they stayed and had their ceremony in front of the big fireplace. It was cozy, intimate, and romantic all at once. Family and friends watched with emotion as they were married in a beautiful ceremony by Sarah’s brother-in-law. Guests were invited to come up and add a jar of soil to their ceremonial tree planting- I loved that! And right at the end of the ceremony, Alex and Sarah stepped outside where Alex opened a bottle of champagne with his SABER. You read that right!
Oysters and Cake
The couple rented a trolley to take them and their guests to dinner. The trolley ride to The Wickman House was filled with laughter and joy as everyone celebrated the newlyweds. The restaurant itself is one of the best in Door County – perfect for a cozy winter wedding reception. We had oysters and delicious food and wine and cake!
Looking back on Sarah and Alex’s Door County winter wedding brings back so many fond memories. It was an honor to be part of their love story! I am so honored to have been able to do engagement photos with them here on the Keweenaw and then document their wedding day. Their intimate celebration is proof that sometimes less is more when it comes to weddings – all you need is love, good company, and a beautiful setting like Door County.
I’m Andrea.
Photographer, storyteller, wanderer of woods and old paths. I believe in the kind of love that’s quiet and powerful. The kind that shows up in small gestures, knowing glances, shared silence. I photograph real moments because those are the ones that matter most—the ones that hold the soul of the story.
